0.23 - Resources rework & Changelog
And it's time for october's update on Underfoot Queens!
This month I've reworked and rebalanced resource gathering and how exploration feels. By making each tile hold a limited amount of resources that is only replenished by the passing of seasons you will need to explore further away.
The more your explore the map, the more resources you will be able to exploit, the bigger your colony will grow.
Before, growing your colony was simply a chore. You didn't need to expand since you could harvest the same tiles over and over.
Now, you will need to expand your tunnel network, creating new entrances so your ants can use those as "outposts" to deliver their precious cargo.
There's also a new layer of strategy when choosing which tiles to harvest. If you harvest everything around your nest, you won't be able to forage with your ants (The action to satisfy their hunger/thirst, not to confuse with "harvesting" which is gathering resources).
New features & changes:
- Reworked tile resources (No more harvesting the same tile ad eternum, resources will run out and will replenish with season changes)
- Added darker backgrounds on some of the least visible text
- Added unit population aging (No more immortal ants)
- Added upward/downward attacks
- Added hints to multiple icons
- Shortened colony panel
- Added tile detail panel, accessible by right clicking tiles
- Added carbohydrates & protein storage options with workers and larvae chambers
Bugfixes:
- Fixed some translation issues related to changing the language in game
- Fixed hills not having wildlife
- Fixed drops multilevel logic
- Fixed building preview logic
- Fixed slopes being buildable without resources
- Fixed fog visibility when a unit dies
- Fixed building panel being empty after loading a game
- Fixed random game crash related to wildlife dying
- Fixed camera following wildlife activity on Z-levels
- Fixed pheromone borders on map border
