Beyond the Prototype: Roadmap

Hey there! After the tutorial update I feel like the prototype is finished. Of course I'll continue to fix bugs and polish the UI whenever I can, but the MVP that I wanted to present is finished.

That being said, I have plans for the future. And I've organized said plains into a nice looking roadmap :D

I have divided my future plans in 4 stages. I have many more ideas and content I want to create beyond what can be seen in the roadmap, but that will come after these 4 updates are finished.

The Foundation Update: I want to finish the game's UI before moving on (At least the basics!), so I won't drag this and face it at the start. I also want to review how the genes are dealt with in the game, simplify them (For you players and myself) and simplify the task of adding new sprites by making them procedurally (I already have a tool for it but it's something I do outside of the game).

The Regional Update: The important and heavier part in this update are the "Region Maps". The idea is to introduce a new map layer which would substitute the current overground layer. This means new sprites, lots of work.  The current overworld sprites would be used for a world map layer. Think of "Rimworld" and the global/local maps.  Other mechanics I want to introduce are: "Diseases" (Finally something to manage beyond resources!), "Pheromones" (Think of Civ's culture expansion, but more anty) and a "Queen Phase" (So you can choose were to "settle" your nest). Also 2 new species to play with the new mechanics.

The Warfare Update: The scope of this update might be too big. I want to add the ability to form new colonies, have multiple queens and 2 new species to play with this new mechanics. Also I want to improve the combat system and add some basic colony AI that can grow and attack you if provoked. I want to add a couple neutral ai insects and diversify their behaviour too.

The Biomes Update: I'm going to be honest I don't know yet which biomes I'll add. But, no matter which biomes I add, it means a lot of sprites and resources have to be made. I'll add 4 species per new biome, most with their own mechanics. I'll also introduce the hibernation mechanic, so you can skip winter or deal with it better if not (Right now it's just a skip turn fest).

I hope you enjoyed this type of post (I noticed I was just posting changelogs so that must be somewhat boring), if not, tell me so I can improve :D
